All for me?

Hi it's Austin here, I wanted to tell you about the backyard. I have to say, it's been a real mess.
I've had to put up with such abuse, like my paws wiped off. I can tell you that the dirt added lots of fun to my life and couldn't understand how so much fun could be so much trouble. As they brought in all the materials to cover the dirt, I did what I could, ran along side of Carol as she got wagons of mulch from the fun pile. She wasn't as appreciative as I had hoped with my help. I often got nose to nose with John, trying to advise his placing the rocks around the pond. Again, with a firm voice he instructed me to move. Humm.

But here we are with this great back yard. When all was said and done, it must have been for me. All this work, for me....what a great thing for my humans to do. It is the best obstacle course I could have ever dreamed about. But I must ponder on the pond. This could be good.

But for now, it's fun to dream...what next are they doing for me.

What a weekend.

I don't have a lot to say, because I am speechless, also tired. We worked really hard this weekend on our pond and the black mulch. We have a lot of plantings to do to make it work together but this is the next step. Hope you enjoy the progress.

God Bless those who travel through my little blog

I got into the dirt.

What a day Saturday was. Not only was it beautiful but I decided to get into the pond and scoop out the water that formed from all the rain. I was tired of the dirt and the dirty water that sat in the pond. We have really red soil, which dies the shoe leather, the feet and the hands. Anything that touches wet red soil.

So with gloves on and buckets in hand I went out to scoop and hopefully dry the pond bottom. It was a lot of work and after John and I stood looking at a cleaned out pond, we decided to put down the felt liner and the rubber liner. So new pictures to share with you.

I know what you are thinking, it's not looking much better. The pond and water way never looks good till the water runs into the pond and plants crawl over the sides. About a year from the finishing touches it becomes really beautiful and you finally see the results of ones effort.

But for now we are happy with what we have done and ready to put the rocks down.

God Bless you and yours. And prayers for the Japanese, they need good thoughts also.

It's a Peep Alert.

It's Easter time again, and one of my favorite candies during the Easter season is the Peep. Yes, I could live on them. I buy them and open them up to the air. The biggest problem is, my favorite state of Peep is hard. I usually don't make it to that stage. Once opened I loose control. I am addicted. I wonder through the stores keenly keeping my eyes open to the Peeps name. I often think, that if I buy three boxes of six peeps, I will have them over a week. Dreamer that I am it never works.

I know my husband truly loves me because yesterday he brought home one package of Peeps. He must know me well. I opened them up and have been drawn to them more than once. I pledge to make them last till next week. The challenge is on.

You must excuse me, the Peeps are calling....I can resist.

Easter Season is my favorite. Jesus died for us. I love that guy.

Spring has sprung.

I thought we all needed a little spring. Especially those under feet of snow. Being a Minnesotan I understand the want for spring.

A year ago today.

Timbers spirit went back to the earth. She is still missed and I dreaded this day. I wondered how a pet, one of many that have traveled through my life, could affect me this much. Was it because she went through so many times of sorrow with me? I probably will never know.

Even in the last few months before her death, I knew it was going to happen. I tried to prepare myself. The end was still overly painful. Unlike my parents and loved ones that have gone before me, I don't believe four legged spirits join us after death. It makes it so final.

But today came without sorrow. Only great memories of a day gone by. A spirit that warmed my heart and will rest there throughtout my life. This is a tribute to loving pets. They are worth taking care of, loving and respecting. Time on earth is prescious. They are part of the family.

God Bless those who travel through my little blog.

I'ts so nice to see change.

After the front yard achievement I thought maybe John would stop, go golf and take a vacation from the hard work. But to my surprise he got right into it, the back yard started to take change, you saw the starter pictures.

John has always been great at working through any problem. When we decided to do this, we decided that flat rocks would be fun. John had never used flat rocks to build a waterfall and pond. This was going to take time. But that's what he is good at. And of course will drive me crazy on the way to the solutions needed to design another masterpiece.
More pictures of follow as he works it. God Bless all those who follow my little blog. By the way, Austin has been helping John a lot on the landscaping. So he is a little busy to blog.
