Had to rethink my thoughts.

If that sounds confusing to you, you can imagine my creative mind dealing with it. In both my job and in the job of secretary of the association in which I live, I had to look at this from all sides and see where I stand.

Both my job and my position as secretary were getting complicated. I began to see things in a negative light. It seems to me I have been here before. In my young age I would either fight, if it was necessary or quit. Could this be a life lesson that I had missed before. Maybe it's not the world, maybe it's me.

I do know one thing, the more I focused on it, the more it was getting me down. The truth is that when I get involved I really get involved. I am common sense overloaded. I'm not a scholar, I am an artist and I have to say it comes with sensitivity. I see things from all sides and realize I need to approach it from every direction. This truly is hard when my feeling have been hurt. However, when I have stood up and stood my ground, I often felt stronger.

So, you ask, what's the point? The point is that I need to realize that there are more quitters than fighters, and they want me to go away. I also learned that if my feeling get the best of me, I need to return to the subject when I am calmer. The last is that I need not make it get the best of me. I am better than that.

Wow, that feels good.
Thanks for letting me ramble on. And God Bless all those who travel through my little blog.

What was I thinking?

I told you about my new lunch purse and figure you know that I got a job. After loosing Timber I knew my time would be different. A part time job was my answer. I love working but wanted to do something to keep me busy, but NOT have all the responsibility.

Was it written on my face, or do I look like the type that wants responsibility. My new part time job is working in jewelry, where things are really complex. Everyone works so hard and help each other. Making it hard not to get caught up in learning and wanting to be part of the story. Stocking shelves, straightening out shelves and maybe bagging. But no... right of the bat they looked at me and said I know where I want you. Oh boy.

But I have to say, I think I'm going to like it. I found this picture in my art and know it has nothing to do with retail sales. But after the first four hours on my new, NOT responsible, job this is how I looked. What was I thinking?

Have a great weekend all.

Another day, another time.

This morning came as a complete surprise due to such a busy weekend. Being busy can sometimes wear me down, and I have to say it really did. But the success of the endeavor was so worth it. Our church had it's annual lunch and craft sale. And as most of you know I am now in charge. Quit that, I can see you smile. Anyway back to my story. We had moved our event to a different week, different day, and yet through all the changes we did good, thank God. And I mean thank God.

In a small community, you have so little time to make extra money. And as the stores and eating establishments we need their help to survive the long winter months. Mostly because we are in the greater vacation land. Our season formally starts around Memorial and runs through Labor Day. We make extra money for such things as supplies we need in the kitchen, or larger things like a new washer and dryer in the rectory. We pride ourselves in helping the church run.

We are truly a volunteer army. I find it fun to work with such fun gals. We laugh a lot, grumble a lot, but in the end we feel good. Not just because of the money we make but because of the friendships we have developed over the years.

This is just a glimpse into my life living in a small town.

It came to me today....

what happened to this weekend, where was I, how did it disappear without me noticing it's departure? Even if I saw it coming would I change a thing...probably not. I believe I am a little too structured. Where did that come from? Why is it that every morning I wake up with a plan for the day. More planning than day.

Maybe it's my upbringing. My mom was a hard worker, and so my dad. And do I really care. I find myself content with my life as I make it. And if I had more time off what would I do with it? I know it wouldn't be sitting in the sun drinking a fine blender drink or watching the birds for hours as they fly in the ski.

By golly that's it, I am happy and would not change a thing. I like a list of things to do and the possibilities of completing it. I like the time in my gardens and the mid afternoon nap when caught by surprise. Yes, this is a good life. Sometimes complicated but by my making.

But when I do take time to squander I truly appreciate it and spend it without quilt.

When is a Mess Really a Mess?

I am hoping you enjoy this truly wonderful mess. This is one of those times when you close your eyes knowing the ending will be great. Every once and a while we go through this. We are finishing our home one project at a time. And in those simple projects we find ourselves taking small steps. The worst part is the cleaning up. If we were young and could do it in one day the cleaning up would be a one time event. But not us. We are up to three clean ups and counting.
But at the end of the day the mess will be gone, our world will be back in order and we will sit with glass of wine in hand feeling pretty accomplished. So, when is a mess really a mess...when it doesn't accomplish something.
