Happy Father's Day

I lost my father many years ago. But even today I think of him with more love because I have grown to know the great things he did. The world will never think of him as accomplished but with my family he was great. And that's the only thing that matters here under the sun.

To those of you in the midst of fatherhood, honor the position, be faithful to it. This is your biggest accomplishment.

To My Father.

I realized today at church that I have two fathers. I found myself thanking my heavenly Father for my father. It almost brought tears to my eyes wondering how I was so blessed to have them both in my life. We are all blessed with the heavenly Father and you can choose to love him or not. I like thinking of myself as a late bloomer in realizing I could rely on Him, Him being God.

My earthly father, was a special man. No he wasn't the friend kind of dad. He was a strong, and yet a small man. He was faith driven. He worked so very hard and never held it above us with words like "you don't know how hard I work for you" he was humble. He was proud and yet kind. Maybe the word humble reflects him the most.

In return for his quiet being, I respected him. He didn't have to shout or use fowl words to be strong. We knew he was fair, even when we didn't like what he said. In return we treated him with respect. I loved my dad more than I knew but in my heart I know he knew that.

God Bless those who travel through my little blog.

Father to be....

I wanted to show you a new design for Father's Day. I was ask last year if I could design a card that didn't say happy father's day but say, you are going to be a father. I designed one for last year it sold right away. But this year I wanted to make it lighter in color. Did I go too far? I am sorry it's so soft looking but the card is soft. Yiks, what was I thinking. Tomorrow I will put my last years picture on the site.

Have a great Saturday

The Greatest Man I Never Knew...

This was a song that Reba McEntire song. The first time I heard it, I had to play it again. That was my dad. After his death, I realized how little time I had spent with him. I know that he was great. He didn't travel the world, he failed to write a book, and he wasn't famous. He loved his children, he loved his God and never talked bad about anyone. Even Mom said that she loved to tell Dad things because he would never tell anyone.

My Dad was the hardest working man I ever knew. He was a farmer, dairy cows, he sold when the boys left for their dreams, after that he did all sorts of jobs. He was a proud man and never complained about some jobs others would never do.

I talk to Dad more today than when he was alive. I tell him how his life influences me by his constant love for the people around him. Before he died, I told him I loved him. He smiled at me as he always did when I said those three words and I knew he loved me. Words would have been great, but the smile was his way of saying it back.
Happy Father's Day to those like my Dad.

Who am I in this family?

I often ask that, I am in a fractured family. I married my husband and with him came a grown family. This has always been a mystery to me. Who am I or who should I be. I always said treat me like a friend. I didn't come into this family to take over someones position that can never be taken. I came into the family to love my husband, anything after that was a blessing.

A couple of days ago I was ask by a man in his 60's for a card he could send to a man that had treated him like a son all his life. I starred into his eyes and said thanks. He looked back in wonder and said "Does this mean you can make me one". I smiled and said I would be proud.

What a world we live in these days with all the fractured families. And a new demand on card makers. Maybe this is my true calling, and since I understand the problem and live it, I could make a difference. So, here is what I call stepson card, mostly because there is not easy word to use to describe those people who just love.

I hope you enjoy the card.
